In a train compartment, from Bucharest to Brasov, Romania:
"Where are you from," the elderly man asks in English.
You guessed it ….. "Australia," I reply.
He asks where I’m going, what I’m doing, where have I been.
"And you?" I ask in return.
"I’m Greek," he says.
"Well so am I," I respond in our mother tongue.
He had spent 20 years in Romania, working as a geologist, and was revisiting after a long absence.
During the 3-hour journey I had a personal geological tour of Romania, with travel tips and suggestions for my visit.
